There are many things under the camera skin - the technological unevenness of screws, connections, seams.
You should know, that smooth, thin, genuine leather not cover all technical bumps under the skin. The leather with texture do it better.
It's like wallpaper on the walls. Smooth wallpapers show all the irregularities of the wall. A wallpaper with a texture/picture - mask them much better.
